OUR PROGRAMS

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

At CRBS, we believe no one is too young to benefit from a loving, nurturing environment.  Our Early Education Program is dedicated to young children whose fresh perspective, laughter, hugs and enthusiasm for learning inspire us to enjoy and explore the world around us in a unique way.  At the very heart of our ECE program is the belief that children can learn through both directed, structured learning AND through play.

Mother's Day Out

Mother's Day Out classes focus on children ages three months to 3 years old and are available two days a week (Wednesday and Friday) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. MDO students with siblings attending kindergarten through eighth grade at CRBS are allowed to stay until 3:00 for an additional charge.  Teacher-student ratios are low, with two teachers in every classroom, giving children more "hands-on" attention and careful supervision. Children in the 1- and 2-year-old classes learn Bible songs, participate in craft activities and enjoy outdoor play on our  ECE playground.

Preschool

Clay Road Baptist School offers preschool classes three days each week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for children who are three years old by September 1 and who are potty-trained. Extended care is available on a limited basis after school.  Preschool utilizes both the Abeka and ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) curriculums to teach such concepts as letter and number recognition and beginning letter formation.  Students also have opportunities to stretch their memory skills by learning short Bible verses & the pledges to our flags using age-appropriate strategies.  Reinforcement activities include creative play, arts & craft activities, fine & gross motor movement, learning stations, and music & library classes.  With the exception of a school spirit shirt used on field trips, uniforms are not required for preschool.

Pre-Kindergarten

The pre-kindergarten program is for children who are four years old by September 1. We offer two attendance options for our pre-kindergarten students:  students meet three days each week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. –or- students meet five days each week (Monday through Friday) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Extended care is available both before and after school. With the exception of a school spirit shirt used on field trips, uniforms are not required for pre-kindergarten.

This is a year of new beginnings as children prepare for the challenges of "big school."  We continue to utilize the ABeka curriculum to assist students in developing and mastering the skills and concepts they began in preschool such as more focused work with numbers, phonics instruction & letter formation. Students also have opportunities to stretch their memory skills by learning short Bible verses and reciting the pledges to our flags.  Socially, students will focus on the rules of classroom etiquette and relationship strategies.  Reinforcement activities include creative play, arts & craft activities, fine & gross motor movement, and music, computer & library classes.  Five day students utilize their extra time together for additional enrichment and reinforcement activities.  Regardless of the number of days attending, students who attend our pre-kindergarten program are fully prepared for the advanced instruction our kindergarten classes provide.

Kindergarten

We have two options for our kindergarten program: Our traditional all-day class that meets M-F from 8:15am to 3:15pm or our Early Release Option which allows you to pick-up your Kindergarten student at 11:00am on Tuesday and Thursday. All Kindergarten students may arrive as early as 7:00 am and stay as late as 6:00pm for an additional charge.

All Kindergarten students follow the ABeka curriculum for phonics and reading. ACSI  (Association of Christian Schools International) math is used to provide the children with hands-on  learning and the development of higher level thinking skills. FOSS science kits are used to teach science through exploration and discovery. Children are introduced to topic-specific classes such as computer, library, art, music and physical education. Children who have not been enrolled in the CRBS pre-kindergarten program will need to be evaluated for
readiness before they are admitted to kindergarten.

Elementary (grades 1 through 5)

The elementary grades utilize ABeka, ACSI and Bob Jones curriculum materials for instruction. Students attend school from 8:15 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Elementary grades participate in the Accelerated Reader program, FOSS Science, Bible drill competition, spelling bee, creative writing competitions and art contests. All students enjoy music, art, computer, library and physical education. Electives such as Spanish, additional instruction and band (fifth grade only) are offered as well as the opportunity for girls to participate in pep squad (third-fifth grade).

Middle school (grades 6 through 8)

The middle school grades utilize a variety of curriculum sources, including Abeka, Bob Jones and Glencoe. Students can potentially graduate with high school credit for Integrated Physics and Chemistry and Algebra I. Spanish, which is part of the core curriculum, will count towards a high school credit as well. Students are given an elective period opportunity during the regular school day and may choose from art, drama, and band. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the chapel Worship Team, Accelerated Reader program and in various sports activities such as cheerleading, football, volleyball, basketball and track. There is a distinct emphasis on leadership, discipleship and Christian service in Clay Road's middle school program.
